On September 12, 1963, Porsche presented the 901 model at the IAA in Frankfurt. When series production began the following year, the 901 became the 911 because Peugeot had all three-digit type designations protected with a zero in the middle. The design of the sports car, for which Ferdinand Alexander Porsche was responsible, was pleasing to the eye.
