Beauty, strength and (self) wisdom are three concepts not easily associated with OLD. A shame, because there is plenty of it. For the photobook PR:OUD - Trots op Leeftijd, bookmakers Sevilay Maria van Dorst and Micaela Bartels had the opportunity to meet and photograph 40 high-profile Dutch people of advanced age. The result is a wonderful book of amazing portraits that not only manage to inspire, but also make you think: "What would happen if you gave up the idea that your current or future self is inferior to your younger self?"
In the coffee table book 'PR:OUD - Pride in age', 40 high-profile Dutch people act as both role models and sources of inspiration to refute common stereotypes of 'old age'. A first step in a national awareness campaign.
PR:OUD - Pride in age is a sparkling tribute to the beauty, resilience and (self) wisdom of an aged person. The images and insights inspire reflection, provide tools for one's own life journey and invite one to experience life-time as a gift. It will change common ideas about aging for good and for the better. The book contains stories by high-profile Dutchmen such as Paul van Vliet, Noraly Beyer and Jetty Mathurin, with forewords by Barbara van Beukering and Jimmy Nelson.
